Nostalgic Website Header

I finished this commission last week. It’s my first website header design and I really enjoyed doing something new and different. My client asked for something that would fit with her “lifestyle blog about rural living, farming, a sense of harvest, living seasonally, old fashioned values and nostalgia, hand sewing, growing, baking and making.”

Website Header - 'SHE SOWS SEEDS', Watercolour & fineliner, 12 x 3 inches.

I started out with the banner and then the vines, which along the way turned into a tree of sorts. From there I played with placing different objects in the tree and this is how it turned out.

My favourite part was wrapping the vines around the scissors and threading some of the tendrils into the banner like stitch work. Oh! And also using a fineliner with watercolour paint for the first time. I’ll post a link to the site when it’s up and running so you can how it looks.
